Tickets are on sale now for The Child Advocacy Center’s fundraiser, A Blue Ribbon Affair, which will be from 7-11 p.m., Aug. 22, hosted by The Wynfrey Hotel at the Riverchase Galleria. Tickets are $30 per person. There will also be a Silent and Live auction, along with a cash bar and music by Prisoners of Love. Today is also the 73rd birthday of Geraldine Ferraro, the first and only (so far) female Vice Presidential candidate for a major political party. In 1984 Walter Mondale selected her as his running mate in the campaign against Ronald Reagan. She went on to serve as a U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Commission of Human Rights under President Clinton’s administration, and also worked on Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
