Geraldine Brooks’ first novel, Year of Wonders, is one of my favorite books, and now I’m absorbed in her latest. Inspired by a true story, it traces the journey of an ancient Jewish text, the Sarajevo Haggadah, and the people who risk their lives to protect it over the centuries.
