Theme of My Days

Monday, April, 21, 2008

I think you should know that I’ve chosen an official theme song for skirt! magazine. Thanks to a sweet find at What’s On Second (a wonderful world of antiques), I now own it on a 45 vinyl. Back in the 70s, Helen Reddy was singing skirt!’s song, even before skirt! was singing it. Hey, thanks Helen. What a sweetheart.

Here’s an excerpt from the song. But, really, you should make it your business to search for it on myspace and give it a listen.

All the while, picture me making muscles and singing along...

I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an' pretend
'cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again

Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman”

A little ridiculous. But, mostly awesome.

Everytime I remember you telling us that you try to play this song multiple times of day at the office, it makes me smile/laugh. ~sabrina
