John Scalici is a major drummer

“I have the world’s best job,” says John Scalici, “And I created it.” John is a drum circle facilitator and founder of Get Rhythm-- an interactive drumming program that encourages teambuilding. Though John is a skilled musician, he’s not a music teacher. “I’m creating a sense of community, teaching about respect and communication.” After pursuing a musical career in Memphis, John moved home and drummed up the idea for Get Rhythm as a way to translate his passion for drumming into a livable career. John is a firm believer that everyone has rhythm. “No matter how big or small, everyone has a voice that makes up the group song. Basically, my job is bringing people together. I love that I’m using the drum as a tool to create community.”

Extra web content:

“My company is founded on the belief that everyone understand rhythm because it’s a universal language,” John says. “Everyone is born a drummer, because the first sound you hear is your mother’s heartbeat. What is it that makes you feel safe and secure? It’s the rhythm of your mother’s heartbeat.”

“You’re alive right now. Your body is in rhythm with itself. Your heart is beating. Your blood is pumping. You’re breathing. Even a conversation is extremely rhythmic. Talking, listening, processing. It’s cyclical. That’s the rhythm of life.”
