If you’re a little girl in China, getting born is hard enough. (Then it gets tougher.)
Like the rest of the world, I was shocked this week when the Olympic opening ceremony switch story surfaced. Two little girls – one judged as pretty and the other as talented – were used to present what Chinese officials believed was the perfect image. While a little girl named Yang sung her heart out, the world watched another child Milli-Vanilli her way through the lyrics.
Yang is seven years old, and she is adorable.
One Chinese official defeneded the decision, saying, “I don’t see there is anything wrong with it if everybody concerned agrees.”
Yang’s father went on the record, saying that his child was honored just to take part in the Olympic ceremonies.
